I was 17 years and 3 months old. Can't enter into a contract until you are 18. Though in reality, my parents didn't know i bought the car until 5 months later when they came back from vacation and it w as sitting in the driveway. The 5 months gave me time to pay off the other $250, buy a motor and trans and do some body work, and get it into primer.

The birth of a "classic".........truly, yours is a hand built car! But, I bought my 1st C1 corvette in 1971, complete and running for $1500. Drove it daily for almost two years before transitioning into a 1969 Riviera.........talk about a difference in ride, wow!

Very - cool! I was 18 when I bought my mess of a 61 - learned a lot of lessons in life building that 61 back up to a nice reliable Corvette!

So cool! Let's hope the seller does not void the sale because your parents didn't know, and want it back again!

Bought the car in Helena. Drove it there and in Bozeman when I was at MSU..
I remember driving around with the top down drinking beer with a friend on one sunny February afternoon when it got up to 38 degrees. Just turn the heat on.
But, yeah, it was stored from early October to usually march 1st, and I didn't drive it much until May after all the piles of plowed snow had melted, as i hated driving through dirty melting snow water running across the street. (after it was painted, I didn't care when it was in primer)
Doug.

Super cool, Doug!
I’ve moved so much in my life that I have little documentation of all the different cars that have passed through my garages. It is impressive to see both the documentation and how early you began your love of the Corvette. Well done!

66BBcoupe,
Yeah, I learned the hard way too. Bought a basket case 58 in 1969 for $600. Had a total of $2300. in it as pictured. Back then no Internet and bought local. Could have probably found a nice, good looking 58 then for $2500. or less if I had know where to look. I still made a little money on it a few years later when I sold it.
The 54 was another car I had in the mid 70s. Picture was scanned from an album and could not break the old purple 58 out separately.

Very cool. I had a friend back in late ‘70’s HS who had a C1. It was beat up and needed a lot of work but he drove it.
Another kid had a white C2 convertible that was perfect. One kid scraped and did all the work himself and the other got a shiny can handed to him. Either way, I wanted one!
I settled for a ‘68 GTO (2 barrel, 3-speed) rust bucket for $300.
