Some of you are SACC members.
I had known of Roy MANY years ago, but became closely acquainted with him when he started up the SACE organization (Solid Axle Corvette Enthusiast), which became the SACC organization. I was one of the founding members (#107).
I thought Roy was one of those guys that would live forever. He will be missed by MANY, MANY people in the Corvette community and elsewhere.
God bless and RIP Roy!!!

Very sad to hear, RIP Roy.

Having been a member of this board since its inception, as well as other Corvette discussion boards pre-CF, I always found it valuable to read and learn from the members who had been around the hobby a lot longer.

Very sad to hear the news of Roy’s passing. I spoke to him a few times when I was working on my project. I had hoped to meet him some day. He will be missed.

Crap. I felt something was wrong, with him putting his car on the market and then not really posting here anymore shortly after. I've met him a couple of times, and he was very gracious and informative on the subject of these old cars. A man of few words but of many accomplishments. His knowledge of the early cars was immense, and his '55 in real life was amazing. Saw him just last September at the Roamin' Angels show in Nevada City. He looked just fine. Great guy and a real loss to the hobby. RIP, Roy.

Default Roy the gentleman

I met Roy at Bloomington Gold years ago. I had my red '55 there. He came up, introduced himself, and proceeded to inform me what was incorrect on my car. I bought my ignition shielding for my current '55 car from Roy. I didn't know he was sick, but looking back, I should've known something was up when he offered his Copper '55 up for sale. Does anyone know if it sold? RIP, Roy. You are a good man, and will be missed.

While I never met Roy I feel as I really knew him from all the Corvette info I read that he had written. Between him and Noland Adams this hobby has lost a trove of knowledge. RIP Roy.

I am saddened to hear this. Pretty neat that The Copper Man lived his last days in such a beautiful place like Hawaii.

This is sad news. I especially enjoyed his posts and pictures on his extensive collection of period accessories.
