Wheel Hub Center Diameter
Getting ready to spring for some aftermarket wheels and I've figured out the size and backspacing I can use without issues, but noticed these American Racing wheels have a 72.60 mm hub center diameter! In fact it looks like most aftermarket wheel manufacturers offer either 72.6 and a 78.6 mm hubs centers. Looking up on the internet, most, if not all, corvettes (58-82 at least) use a 73mm hub like all chevrolets from this time period. Am I obsessing here and will the 72.60 wheels actually fit on the stock 62 corvette 73 mm hubs or is the 73mm shown on the internet a misprint? I like the idea of hub centric wheels and don't need a wheel that sits cockeyes on the hub.

C1 and C2 wheels are lug-centric, not hub-centric. You can't run wheels with two centering mechanisms. My suggestion is to buy the wheels with the 78.6mm hub holes and let the lugs nuts do their job.

If the wheels are manufactured centered off the hub hole, I'd think the hubs on the car should be turned to that diameter to be correct. If you don't do that, you could still have two different datum points, one working against the other.
That said, I remember years ago trying to mount up a set of '60's model Chevy wheels on a '40 Chevy. The bolt pattern was the same but the hub center was just a tick too large on the old car. So, I got out a rat tail file and dressed the wheel centers to fit.
I thought that hub diameter stayed the same all the way through 1954 on pass cars and maybe, 1962 on Corvette? Don't know.
