I have recently replaced the battery cables on my '64 with the correct spring load connectors. I have a blade type disconnect switch like the one below that I am wanting to use. My concern is the negative post on these switches taper pretty dramatically and when I place the negative cable on it I don't feel like I am getting a good, tight fit. Not flush on the sides.

If you are using one of these along with the original type battery cable connectors, have you had any issues with losing connection?

I have the same disconnect and have it on the negative post as well.

I don't prefer the spring connectors. If I was overly concerned about judging points I might be, however.

I had a problem (near engine compartment fire) with the green **** disconnects and would not go back to those, myself.

Two things you could.do.

Although its recommended to connect the switch to the negative post you could connect the switch to the thicker positive battery post.,

.Use a copper plumbing pipe fitting as a sleeve over the switch post to tighten it up. Youll need to thin the gauge thickness of the fitting to fit right.

I like the blade disconnect, but I am struggling with the spring connectors possible working loose on the negative stud provided. The switch mounts onto the negative post fine. Thanks for the comments.

Phil, are you using spring type connectors? No problems with it slipping off of the switch negative stud? Thanks.

here is the one on my Chevelle with a battery topper. it fits snug on the post

You've been lucky - I've been through about three of them (not the cheap ones) and each one eventually resulted in a non-start condition..

on my chevelle there is plenty of room. I know on dads two non ac cars it’s a tight fit but does work quite well. Here is a picture on his AC car

Yes - spring connectors and no issue at all (use on two cars) both on negative battery terminal.

Same here. Original spring ring cables.....knife switch disconnect on the NEG post.
