C2 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified 2020
Out of the Garage
Finally out of the garage for my first ride . The smell of an American V-8 4bbl on high octane. The transmission was smooth as silk , the exhaust played an incredible symphony literally music to my ears oooohhhh how she drove. She pulled hard when I asked her to and relaxed to am smooth idle when needed. Still needs some carb tinkering but that is another post . We’re almost there. It’s been a great journey to get her home and I thank all of you for you encouraging comments and advice. Now to find my first car show and to take the original owner for a ride as it’s been over two years for him since he seen her or fired her up. He’s coming for dinner tonight. Said I have something to show you.

I said it before, and I will say it again. Black with Saddle 1967 L79 convertible. You can look at mid-year combinations for a long time before you see anything better.
Add to that the provenance and care the car has received. It doesn't get any better than that. Very very sweet!

That cleaned up very nicely. Great looking car. Ad your find the L79 is a great engine for good street manors and plenty of power when you need it. Being black on saddle and you being the second owner with paper work to day one makes it one sweeter deal of a life time.

Beautiful car to enhance that NH scenery. Is that a R.I. antique plate?

Looks great Ken. Glad the start up went well. Being able to share it all with your friend makes it even sweeter. Beautiful country up there, at least until the snow flies.

Outstanding looking car/color combination. You will love the L-79 as time goes by. Great story with the first owner, embrace that forever and maintain the relationship. I did an exhaustive search for the original owner of my 67 L-79 and he sent me a letter and 3 photos of the car shortly after delivery. We have not connected since but I still feel a bond because the car has a typo trim tag and he validated the original color over the incorrect trim tag.
Enjoy your car!

The owner and I out for our first ride . He said sounds even better then 52 years ago when i first bought her. Not a man of many smiles I saw him cracking one or two and maybe even a tear or two to ride in her again.
