First reason I needed new wheel studs were that the old threads were worn out. Also the bolt on knock off wheels have a cast aluminum thickness that is
more than the original steel rims have. So there were less threads for wheel nuts to tighten. With the longer studs it was a win,win for me. New threads and more threads for the longer nuts that came with the bolt on knock off wheels.

here's another example of recessed spacers (1 1/4" spacers): https://www.jegs.com/i/Trans-Dapt/969/3611/10002/-1
You can also buy longer studs, but they may not be as safe: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00TO5ZI..._t3_B000CIQZTU

The factory stud is 1 3/4" under the head, Dorman part number 610-157 is 2 1/8" under the head.
