Default Axcellerator Rod thread Size

The Accelerator rod to the carb seems to have a VERY fine thread size. Can anyone confer that is 1/4" - 36 thread? Is there a recommended place to purchase a Die for this?

Yes........................1/4 - 36. I went through this last year and bought one on the internet. That auction site that we all know has them.

I put the 1/4 x 28 die on the threads to confirm so I know it correct for my car, but I believe L88 so maybe there are two threads.

Personally I never heard of a 1/4 x 36 but there are many sizes on these cars that are no longer standard

1/4-36 UNS (Unified 'Special') is the correct accelerator rod threadform. Unlike UNC or UNF, UNS is always identified by nominal dia plus TPI. 1/4" UNS threads include -24, -27, -32, -36, -40, -48, -56 TPI. They are only used if "standard" series threads do not meet requirements.

Thanks, I needed to confirm before purchase. I have put the Holley Sniper on a '64 300HP Corvette. I needed to adjust the ratio for the accelerator pedal and found Holley makes a longer arm on their linkage. Now just getting everything aligned up.

KBC Tools and Machinery has a plethora of special taps and dies. Not cheap though.

It's probably so fine because it's an adjustment part. A fraction of an inch wouldn't make much difference to a gas pedal but it would to a trans kickdown.

I have not considered the trans kick down function since my car is a stick. With the throttle control, it did not make any sense to need something a fine as this rod. I found an accelerator rod for another mid-year that is going to work well for me.
Just a note: I still have an issue with my accelerator, now with the new longer lever on the EFI, I now cannot get full throttle. Have not got this all figured out, but it may be that my gas pedal initial position to close to the floor and I don't get enough travel. Have not had time to fully access this yet.

But I do thank everyone for their input and specifications that I needed.
