Here's his response when asked why a cop-slayer was killed during apprehension in his jurisdiction a few years back:

Asked why they shot the guy 68 times, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel … get this. That’s all the bullets we had.

Gotta love the guy...

You guys live in some dangerous places. I looked up the UCR (Uniform Crime Reports) for my County in Wisconsin. Since 2003, no murders, no rapes, two assaults (probably a Viking fan wandering into Wisconsin) and two robberies .

98% of problems can be avoided by some "situational awareness", watching where you travel and when....which is the point of this thread.

I've lived in Pittsburgh, Norfolk/Portsmouth and Wash DC, never been a victim of any crime, violent or otherwise... Unless you count some stolen car surfboard racks back in 1966....

And this is why my Vette is located at my place in Northern Wisconsin!

I did read about an incident in Florida a few years back where at a traffic light an incident escalated to the point a person in the front car stopped at the light, got out and walked back to the car behind him and jerked open the drivers door. Whereupon the driver placed several slugs into the person opening his door. No charges were filed under Florida’s Castle Doctrine.

The law allows that, in Arizona, if you are in fear for your life. AZ isn't CA (I used to live there). Better be in your car while doing the shooting, though, getting out and shooting them is a no-no.
But, if someone moves to AZ, don't freak out and demand laws to make AZ just like CA because something upsets you.

There isn't whole lot of car jacking going on in AZ because a whole lot of people have loaded guns in their cars, legally, no permit required. Amazing how that works, no?

Unfortunately, many Californian are moving to AZ and trying to convert it to the state they came from. As the president of a local HOA with 268 properties, I see this happening all the time. On the flip side, many coming from the west are retired law enforcement, fire department, first responders. They definitely see the way things are going. And they appreciate AZ for what it is.

Guys, most of us have lived in the best of times, 60's, 70's and 80's. Here on out it's adios America. Kentucky just passed a law where you did not need a permit for a gun. Wonder why. Article in todays paper about Kentucky government passing another law to ban sanctuary cities. Get it. We had to pass a law to keep Kentucky's borders safe.

Well the police aren't always around when you need them but then sometimes they are around when you wish they weren't.

Coming home around 2 pm today from a car show and this is right in front of my neighborhood...
Wanna bet these two were doing a little over-spirited driving ?

Watch your six, which is the whole point here. But if two guys with aks want it that bad, here you go, here are the keys...it’s insured.

Im always watching, so much in fact if I’m clocking some car in the rear view that seems to be following, I’ll drive right by my neighborhood and keep driving around until they aren’t following anymore. I think it’s just my ocd and more of a coincidence, but hey you never know.

My bullet dodging days are done. I retired. That was though, so very considerate of you to offer to ensure my retirement present doesn't get cobwebs or mice taking up residence.
You Minnesnowta fellas always were considerate.

This reminds me of a story related to me by a cop friend. He had to subdue a perp. with his MagLight. In court the perp's. assigned lawyer asked why my friend needed such a big flashlight? Friend replied: "To hold all the batteries"!

That characterization bring up another important point. I can always drive it in the winter, as well. No sense making this just a six month commitment; I am a "fair weather" guy when it comes to driving other people's cars........

doesn't matter.. if you unload on a bad guy, even though legally justified and no charges are filed, the bad guy's family is going to sue you in civil court and win, and take you for every penny you have with 6 figures going for a lawyer.. your life is basically over at this point anyway.

hand the bad guy your keys and run away, only defend yourself if he chases you. ....rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

We must not succumb to the bad guys out there.
If you have the will, and the means , resist!
Use your common sense, and make certain their is evidence/witness supporting your belief that your life was in danger.
Lacking such evidence, I agree, you will be sued by the "victim's" family.

That, unfortunately, is true many places. In 2017 the Florida Supreme Court ruled that immunity from criminal prosecution under the Castle Doctrine doesn't shield you from a civil suit. Which I think is ridiculous...

HOWEVER, Florida has the 'tenats by entirety' provision where communal assets are considered owned by a single entity and creditors for an individual spouse will find they cannot successfully make a claim against the assets (the IRS is an exception)...

Where I live it's legal to shoot them. Like your hotel room, it falls under the Castle Doctrine law.
