Default What was this block out of originally ?

I have the engine out of my 1960 and know itís not correct but can someone tell me what it is?
i assume a 283
ill try and post pictures of the pad stamping and the castings



Iíd like to learn how to read it a bit too if someone can say how they decipher it
does the block casting give you more info or the stamping?

My source shows the following:
years used 1964-68 block casting 3849852 283 cubic inch 195 -220 HP Used in car & truck I couldn't tell you what the stamp pad interpretation would be.

Others may provide additional information. There are several sources on line to determine this information along with suffix identification etc. Here's the one I use.
