Where Have All The C2's Gone?
Took the short ride down to the annual Corvette Show @ Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring, MD to check out the cars this morning . . . more than 80 Corvettes in total in the show . . . but only 4 C2's? (ok, 5 with mine in the parking lot). And only 2 C1's?
Two other notable really cool cars in attendance:

C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified 2020
We are a minority in the Corvette world, along with the C-1's. It's a complex picture with no end in sight. Good pics Tom. Dennis

Tom I lament the small numbers out and about as well even though I don’t attend many shows.
Very few cars are damaged each year, I’m sure the number of net-roadworthy sting rays actually rises.
In my lifetime ive seen them go only from “precious” to “exquisitely precious” in their owners minds. Wasn’t alive for the 70’s when more people just had fun with them. I think, aging of the population aside, owners just let them sit more.
Sad.
That said- it seems membership on this forum alone is a good indicator you’re driving and enjoying and even stomping around with (!) your car than most owners. Why I like most of the folks here

I went to an all corvette show about a month ago, 100 corvettes and 11 were C2's. I thought that was a good ratio, as that's by far the most I have seen at that particular show in the last 8 years.

Too many are going to collectors and museums. Rick Hendrick has a pretty good percentage of them

I spent the last two days at the Good Guys show in Columbus Ohio. There were plenty of C2's there, both stock and modified. The restomods were doing pretty good going around the cones!

Around 1.8 millions Corvettes have been built out the door since 1953. Of those 1.8M, about 125,000 were C2s, or fewer than 7% of all Corvettes. Not all C2s are still in existence - how many; no one knows, but let's guess half, or about 63,000.
So, did you see too few or just the right number? For me, there are never enough C2s, but maybe you saw a representative sample?
Five of 80 is about 7%, so about right.
Same ratio with the C1s pretty much.
But it looks like some nice C2s and nice C1s there.

When I complained to my wife @ the lack of C2's at the show . . . her response was . . . "let's face it, you guys are a dying breed"! Can't begin to tell you how good that made me feel!!!

I was surprised to see only a couple of Midyears and about three solid axles at an all-Corvette show here in Edmond, Oklahoma a few weeks back. I don't worry about it too much, I save my excitement when I see one on the road. They are out there, more of them are getting used as resto-mods and some enthusiasts have more resources to hunt 'em down and restore/have them restored.

I think many of the C2 and C1 owners are car showed out, been there, done that. I know I am. People ask me all the time if I show my cars and I tell them I drive them regularly and I am showing it to them now.

I do about 5-6 shows a year (I take other cars besides the corvettes), and three of those I go to, I only go because people I have known for long time will be there. That and its a 3-4 day mini-vacation. I pass on a lot of shows, BTDT.

Q: Where Have All The C2's Gone?
A: Asia and Europe. Well, not ALL of them . . . but an ever-increasing number.

There are 67 Corvette production years. There are 10 C1 and 5 C2 production years. If all the C1s and C2s were still on the road, they'd be less than 1/4 of all the Corvettes on the road. That's being way too generous to C1s and C2s, obviously because many aren't still on the road. You do the math. And Rhino's math is a whole lot more precise.

I’m over 65 and it was over 100 both days this weekend, and that kind of sucked. Having the only C2 sure gets a lot of attention. C7 GS seems to be the hot ticket around here. Lots of C5s. Pic from two months ago, I met forum member Rich Willhoff, what a nice guy!

My wife and I drove past a car show today in the 66. AC was on with the top up and the windows down. We enjoyed a nice ride down to Pungo to check this house out. It was started in 1987 and never finished. The city of Virginia Beach forced the owner to either tear it down or finish it. He sold it to a contractor. Price, 1.2 million.
