Default Engine number

Purchased 64 conv with a replaecedengine. I know the meanings of the numbers from the front fo the engine, T1201HC, however there a second set there as well, 8Y139076. I can't find information related to this second set. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the Corvette Forum,

These are the years and bodies the HC suffix was used...

HC 1965 327 250 PG B

HC 1967 327 275 PG B, A.I.R.

HC 1968 327 275 PG B

HC 1969 350 250 MT A, F, X

GM body platform letters A (Chevelle), B (Passenger), F (Camaro/Firebird), X (Nova)

Good luck... GUSTO

8Y139076

8 = 1968
Y = Wilmington, Delaware Vehicle Assembly Plant
139076 = last 6 digits of the VIN of the car this engine was installed in.

Wilmington built full size passenger cars (Impala, Caprice, etc.) in 1968.

Thanks, found the the third number on the block (3914660) and it is a 1968 small block V8 327 2 bolt and apparently, according to all the posted information it came out of an Impala or Caprice and used as a replacement in this 64 Corvette.
