Looks really nice. Great job so for. Looking forward to see your progress from time to time. How long has it taken you to get to the point you are? What process did you use to clean the frame and what kind of paint did you use on the frame?
I am helping a friend of mine do a frame off restoration on a 63 split window. We took the body off of the frame last Friday. The frame had surface rust, but was in really good shape otherwise. It is an all matching numbers car. A little over 70,000 miles. In the past it scored a 98 then a 100 before the rules changed. It did have a touch up paint job that killed the survivor status. Painted too much of it.
I have been at it about a year, but that includes lots of other stuff in between. I pulled off everything I could inside and out, sent the bumpers for chroming, sent the gauges, clock and radio for restoration and started removing the paint. When my painter removed the body, I brought the frame home... had it stripped of parts in two weekends... saved all the hardware in bags and tagged. I took the frame to a place in Raleigh, NC called Topcoat. I had basic surface rust as well, but they blasted it and powder coated it. Including the A arms and brackets and gas tank, it was about $750. I thought that was a really good deal That process only took a week. After I got it back, I have been working on all the chassis parts. Ordered front end kit, brake lines, fuel lines and a host of other items for the suspension. I have spent a few weeks on disassembling the front hubs for cleaning and painting. I had a good rear end guy pull the diff apart, inspect and put new seals in... the internals were all good. So, the paint is moving along pretty quickly., and I will likely be behind them getting the frame finished, luckily, they have agreed to hold the body until I am ready. There is a lot to do and this will take some serious time. How about you guys? Is it going as planned?

Just started, but the body came off pretty easy.
Your powder coating job looks really good.
The 63 I am helping on is actually a customers car at this shop. The shop owner has restored several cars. About 5 of those being older vettes. I come out of retirement to help him. I will exclusively be working on the 63 split window with his help from time to time as needed. I will be taking the trailing arms off of the frame tomorrow so they can be sent off for rebuild. Will then start striping all other stuff off of the frame. Have not decided what to use on the frame yet. On the body I will start on the body by srtipping the paint off with a razor blade. No chemicals though.
Well... the iced tea is just an Arnold Palmer...and Costco is a great place for boxes! I've used a lot of boxes on this build for sure. I stripped the body with a razor as well and it came off very well...Thanks for the good feedback! If you did not see my other post... the body was painted this past Friday.
IMCO that's really good progress in a year especially for being as thorough as you're going through everything.
Keep the pictures and updates coming. Many of us enjoy following these transformations come together.
