What year is car. On a 63 the location of the group of numbers are oppostie what you show. The vin is on the bottom of the pad and engine number on top.

Big blocks have this stamping reversed from the small blocks. For BB the engine stamp is done with the heads off due to interference (if heads were on). This leaves a clean surface for the VIN derivative. Small blocks do not have this issue and have always been stamped with engine assembly info on the upper part of the pad........leaving a clean lower part for the VIN derivative.
You need a better picture that is taken closer to the pad so you can enlarge it more. I am a complete amateur on stamp pads. I am curious what the experts have to say.

I would agree with this statement for small block cars. I would say it is not correct for the big blocks. They appear to have been "batch produced" at Tonawanda and Noland's survey results indicate a much wider spread of dates. Special built motors (K-19 as an example) appear to have even more of a spread for both SB and BB engine sizes, but especially the big blocks.
Larry are we talking about block casting dates or assembly stamps. the casting is more in batches. its been a long time since I looked at that part of the book.

Trust me, you don't need another picture of that pad to make a determination on it's originality.
