Default quick distributor question

ok so in reading up on distributors I've thoroughly confused myself. my car in a 1966. currently running a later 1968 block, however I do have an original 942 block that I plan to slowly build back to the original L72 configuration.

so i know the 66 block has the unique rear cam bearing for oiling. I also know a correct 66 big block distributor only has the partial groove at the base (i think its 270 degrees). Current block in the car is a 68, so this was a non issue, im using a normal 68 distributor with the full groove.

so couple questions-
1- can I use the "standard" 68 distributor in the 66 942 block? I've searched and most of the posts i found says its a non issue, but some say that the correct distributor is needed.
2- my car was originally a TI car, so im also searching for a TI distributor. does it matter what type of distributor i purchase? for example, IF I found a 66 TI distributor with the 270 degree groove, is it ok to run that in the 68 block until the 942 block is ready?

I recall the late John Z explained, so find his post on the subject, and you can take what he says to the bank.

ANY single point distributor can be converted to mag pulse, so don't pay a premium for an original mag pulse distributor. Just swap the single point cam assembly for a rotating pole piece with the amount of total centrifugal you want (last two digits of the ID number on the part and L-72 is 30), and install a stationary pole piece in place of the breaker plate.

Thanks Duke. I did find some of John Zs posts in my searching. from my understanding it seems to be a nonissue using the newer distributor in the 66 block.

so that might be the easiest, simply convert my current dizzy to TI.
