I finally got my hardtop stored on the wall out of harms way. Used 3/8 all thread rod but also used a 3/8 black steel structural pipe to add strength. Used 4 cast hangers from Lowes and if you are on 16"stud centers 4 of them fit perfectly and provide a level of security with using 4 of them.
Glad you got it stored without taking up much space. If you don’t plan to USE your hardtop and don’t need the extra wall space your solution works just fine.
However, I like my solution MUCH better for a couple of reasons. You can see it and info on how to build it in post 40, 48 & 56 of the below link. It allows for one person removal and install and only takes up “air space” rather than wall space that can by used for shelving, picture, etc. I have parking stops on the floor of my garage and pull up to them and my car is perfectly positioned for removal and install by one person.

Thanks for the link..I have only put the HT on once in 5 years at that was only to move the car from ATL to the gulf coast a few weeks ago. If I was constantly taking it off and on I would look at lift system.

I get it. In the 5 years I have owned my 57 I only had the hardtop on when I bought it for transport and one other time to adjust the windows to it. The 66 convertible I recently bought did not come with a hardtop but I bought one anyway just in case my kids would want one. (The things we do for our kids)
I prefer to have the available wall space for other things. In fact, I have been thinking about mounting my hoist on a storage platform above the hoist like I saw another member did in the link I posted earlier. You can’t have enough storage. I have a 28’ container on my property also that is full. OR, maybe I should stop being a pack rat. 😀
If I didn’t have my 65 coupe for winter driving I would use the hardtop on the 66 in the winter. Winter is not the Midwest or New England states winter but rather AZ. where I can drive year around without snow.
