There is a God
Yesterday, I drove my 63 convertible from San Diego to my house in L.A. One hundred miles of FAST freeway driving. As I turn into my street I lose all power to the drive train and my brakes become spongy. I stop in the middle of the street, and as my wife and I are pushing the car into the driveway, the right rear wheel falls off! The spindle / axle is sheared off in the threaded section. The brake drum is still attached to the wheel. It is a miracle that it did not come off earlier. There is no other damage. Living here has its advantages - the car is now in Dick Guldstrands Burbank shop being fixed and checked out. The look on his face was almost worth the near death experience!

That is really cutting it close, you are very lucky indeed.
Was there any warning or symptom of the problem during your cruise?

Re: There is a God (7vettes)
Absolutely none. I guess I'm luck to have Positraction. Otherwise one wheel would have continued to be powered (I think).

Wow!!! Someone up there is watching out for you. :blueangel: We're very glad it wasn't a lot worse. Would like to see a pic of the broken part if you got one. :smash:
