427 Numbers Matching Mid Years and EBAY
Ya Know, I was doing the EBAY thing today and came across another 1966 427 Numbers matching car. :D I can't remember the last time I saw a Non Numbers Matching 427 Mid Year Vette on Ebay ( or any other Mid Year for that matter). Anyone else feel this way??? Also, I might have to go see the Vette head doctor, I starting to feel like I have the only 1966 NON Numbers Matching 427 Mid Year Vette :jester Ok, I feel better now.

Re: 427 Numbers Matching Mid Years and EBAY (Mr D.)
If I had bought a Vette new in '66 (I wasn't even born yet in '66, but none-the-less) it would have 300,000 miles, be on the second transmition, and at least the third engine. I would have flared it, painted it, stuck fat tires under it and raced it and would have done who knows what else to it. At some point I would have realized what a mistake I made and started patching it up. A piece here, a part there, a stamp here, a plate there and before you knew it I would have an all original unmolested classic vette that has just been sitting around in my heated garage for 36 years!
My '67 is a NON numbers matching car and I love it!

Rich, great web site :yesnod: I the process of taking my base 300 hp 1966 with a 350 cu in to a 427 cu in head turner  I did run across what I think is some matching 1966 vintage dirt. I sent it off to the FBI Lab for there call on it. If it turns out to be the real deal I will put it back where I found it to perserve the vaule of the car.

Re: 427 Numbers Matching Mid Years and EBAY (SBR)
Remember #s matching does not necessarily mean original! Buyer beware.
The add should of read old mustang needing repairs cleaned and repainted . I often look at "restored cars" and see that they have only had a new paint and chrome on them nothing mecanicl has been restored only fixed what was broken and then painted. I am restring my car I opened my doors rebuilt the tracks with new felts, cleaned the gunk out of all the locks and hardware and re oiled.I am fixing every nut and bolt on this car to restore it to like new aperance and operation.
And real caution should be paid to the high dollar cars stated to be numbers matching I used to assume it meant the original motor (I mean the excact one that they installed at the assembely line )that it left the factory with I now know that it means it is only the same style and it should be date coded to the date of build of the car and it may have the proper vin with the proper broach marcks and may be a restamp.

Mr. D, you are not alone. My 66 Coupe has a 68 4-bolt block, 69 aluminum L-88 Open Chamber heads, 68 L-88 intake, and 69 400 HP transister distributor. The only authenic 66 part is the 427/425 holley carb. And I like it!!
