I'll wave at all vintage vehicles too, whether or not I'm in one of mine. Getting a return wave is hit or miss. Newer Corvettes pretty much don't wave at all, to anything, that I can see.
If I'm in my '62 just about everyone waves, except with C7 or C8 drivers... then it is hit or miss. Most Harley riders wave as well. If I'm in my C7, most wave. If I'm on my Harley, it's always two fingers down.
I still wave and when the oncoming car sees my wave, they most always wave back....(-: I'm an outgoing kinda person, enjoy meeting new folks. People remember the guy in a cool car that is not seen often. I have been stopped at a gas station or ice cream joint and a stranger walks up and says something like this, I saw you wave at my kids that were fussing over your car at the red light, then says to me....you have a cool car with a big smile.
When in my 59, I wave to all vintage cars in general and Corvettes in particular. Although I found that some C8 drivers don't return the wave. The other day I waved at what I thought was an oncomming C8, but it was a Ferrari. Could that be the problem?
I wave at all Vette years when I’m out in my ‘65. It’s always hit or miss whether I get a wave back. As was mentioned earlier Harley riders almost always initiate a wave. For the last several years I’ve started waving at all old cool cars that I pass by. I’m just glad to see them on the road.
I would have been one of those folks that didn't know the wave was a classic car thing. I knew it was a Jeep thing (I'm a Jeep owner for my daily). Learned something new today.
I tried that with my '67 a few times, but by the time they rotated around, the other guy was 1/4 mile in my rearview! Went back to finger flicks on top of the steering wheel.
