What is the acceptable range of engine date codes vs Build date of car for a 63? Thanks for any input.

Block casting dates 4 or 5 days before vehicle assembly are plausible and acceptable for judging.

In an old article written by JohnZ he said a flint was producing about 300 engines a hour. That is casting, machining and assembly. Not sure how often the rail cars would leave but I'm sure every few hours That was I think three shifts. So practically around the clock. So a few days before the cars assembly date was normal.

Stamp date on front engine pad on my 63 is about 10 days before build date. Differential date code is same as engine date.

I've never seen any stats on this (surprised if no one has done it though) but I'd wager that the vast majority of Corvettes have their engine assembly dates 3-14 days prior to body assembly with engine casting dates 3-14 days prior to engine assembly.

I would be best to survey four door impalas or Chevelles as you know they wouldn't have swapped engines with fake stamp pads

I know this is a '67 but the date range is the same for all C2...and, beyond.

Cast date E227 (May 22, 1967)

Assembly date 0602 (June 2, 1967)

Car build date K14 (June 14, 1967)

My '63 engine's casting date is I 28 2, a Friday, and the engine assembly date is 10 04, the following Thursday.
Car was assembled on Oct. 10.
