Does anyone make a Solid Roller that will have similar characteristics to the L72 cam - basically I want a street profile but in a solid roller?
Motor is apart so now is the time
Any ideas?
stock pistons, stock manifolds, side pipes, 4.10s - the L72cam ran quite well - but as usual I want more - but don't want to loose the L72 character.
Contact Chris Straub at Straub Technologies. He will make what you want. 👍
just did - I have a Straub cam in my Suburban so I know his work.
I also have a NOS L88 cam I kinda wanna use - but with 11:1 I'm not sure I'd like it - although I'm used to driving my 69 Z28 which is very puny below 3500rpm as well....

I don’t think you’ll like the L-88 cam in a street vehicle, unless you have 4.56 or 4.88 gears.
Tell Chris I sent you, nothing in it for me, he’s a good friend. I’ll be in his shop in a couple weeks, he’s gonna do some work for me. Good luck with your project 👍
Not a big block, but I have a Comp street roller in my Camaro. 280AR10. 236/236 @ .050 and it’s amazing how broad the power band is. In the 355” flat top motor it runs mid 12’s at 110 mph. Probably 365ish wheel HP. Idles nice and pulls hard. Check out the next size up which is the 288 advertised duration I believe. 288AR10. Should be awesome in an 11:1 big block.
Aaron, We used Comp’s best, high rev hydraulic roller lifters and rockers on my L72. It will rev past 6500 but I avoid above 6500 redline. I don’t see the need for solids unless want to rev beyond original L72 redline. Larry
I had jones cam grind me a hydro roller for my L78 Chevelle. My request to him was- L78 cam(which is same solid lifter as the L72) converting to a hydraulic roller.
I have a Jones solid roller in my 502 powered 69. Definitely a street type grind. Using the Morel bushing lifters from Straub. Both great guys to deal with. Once you go solid roller, you will never go back.
