Like Father; Like Son: New Garage
Well, I guess it's true what they say about the acorn not falling far from the tree. :yesnod: Our oldest son has just started a new addition to his house. It will include a new dining room, sun room off the back and three new garage stalls. At least he has his priorities straight! :D
The first stall in the existing garage will be the area for the new dining room, the second will be the workshop and the other three will be for parking. The first of the new stalls has a 12' ceiling for the future addition of a lift. I really feel for those guys working in the weather we have been experiencing lately but I guess they are used to it. We'll be doing the interior finishing work so I know where I will be spending some time once the shell is finished. :leaving:

If he is like his dad. Another no compromise "Garage Mahall" in the works :D
Post us some finished pics and details, when it is completed.
And surely, you have talked him into stuffing some vintage Corvettes in there.

Jerry & Dennis,
I'll add some pictures when it gets further along. There will be lots to finish in the interior and the house portion will come first. But at least he'll have the basics for the garage to finish as he can. With three daughters (ages 2, 5 & 7) it's unlikely he'll be adding a Vette any time soon. He has been eyeing the 67 lately though. :steering:

Hey Rich, lets get some pics of you installing the sheathing on that thing. :lolg: Sure looks like a fun project for this time of year. The only problem I can see at this point is the roof is to steep. How the heck is that going to hold the snow like the rest of the house?
Have fun helping the kid and be careful up on that roof.... :D

Eyeing is one thing, my ten year old daughter has gone beyond that, she has been practicing sitting in the seat and knows exactly what each pedal does.....the shifter also. :yesnod:

Gary,
Now lets look at the important aspects: steep roof angle, heavy materials, sub-freezing temperature, hmmm. Nope, doesn't sound like something I'll be doing. I think I'll concentrate on the interior projects when the heat is installed. :yesnod:
Ed,
I looks like you have a snow load problem in your area as well. This hasn't been the best time of year to start outdoor projects. :nonod:
Andy & Dennis,
There is no known cure for this affliction. Just have to let nature take it's course I guess. :steering:

When I look at those new stalls I remember what my Dad said about buying houses.---Always buy the lot next door.

Re: Like Father; Like Son: New Garage (JPatrick)
Rich, I bought my house primarily in consideration of what garage I could put on the lot .... being single has it's perks  . I am broke now (buying a house can do that to a guy), but I keep looking at plans and pictures, and your garage always gives me inspiration. Please post the finished pictures of your son's garage so I can drool some more.
