I'm just discovered that there are two different styles of shielding for my 63 on the passenger side. The parts on my car were two pieces like the drivers side, and when I ordered new mounting kits for them, I didn't receive parts that were like the rusty ones I took off. Evidently the AM radio cars got a 1 pc. shield on the passenger side and the AM/FM cars got 2 pc. Does anyone know why? Not really a big deal, I'm just curious.

The shielding is intended for the AM band (530 to 1600 kHz). Spark plugs and arcing contacts throughout the car radiate within that band. FM is way above that, so I'll be interested in the responses to your question.
All 63's came with the one piece right hand shield and the two piece left hand shields. It made no difference if it was a car with the early AM radio or the later AM/FM one, if it had a radio it had one right hand and two left hand shields.
The right hand shield used two 90 degree brackets, completely different than the four left brackets or any brackets used from 64 on.

The '63 RH horizontal was the same p/n as used on the '62 model year and continued through the end of production. Although ECR 54384 (Mar '63) directed change over to two-piece configuration (to improve "serviceability"), this didn't take place until '64 MY so as to exhaust one-piece stock. R&R of a one-piece '63 RH horizontal is an absolute nightmare; I'd stick with what you've got unless judging of sorts is anticipated.
Thanks for the replies! Mine was equipped with the two piece ones, but who knows what has been done over 60 years. I found in the AIM that the 2 pc. were on am/ fm, so I was confused.
