Hats off to Lars and Brutal_64
I've been going round and round trying to get my Holley carb to work right for two years. First it was rebuilt by Chicago Corvette Supply, and then again by them, and then by a local mechanic. It just wouldn't idle and it leaked gas out of the right rear corner.
I talked to Lars about it and he said he would look at it for me. After working his majic and with Brutal_64 donating his car for the testing of my carb, it looks like I will finally have my original carb grace the 327/350 again.
I am happy to supply the beer money (I never realized what a good thing beer is).
I can't tell you how happy I am, Thanks.

Congratulations and I'm sure there are many here who can :hurray: to Lars. I would love to get some help with the Q-jet on the wife's Camaro but I might try to mess it up myself first. I printed Lar's complete Q-jet paper. It really runs pretty good but seems a little rich at idle and we have problems with the fast idle or choke kicking back in. Like cruise control when your going along steady for a period of time then let off. It will slow down but only back to the high idle until you slap the throttle. Oh well I really should learn it since I own it.

Xsray-glad I could lend a hand. It's amazing that you had professionals rebuild your carb three times and when Lars got it he found incorrect gaskets and other parts in there. Doesn't give a person a whole lot of faith in the so called professionals.

Brutal_64 and I had fun running your carb on his engine - nice Saturday morning wake-up noises for the neighborhood... It really ran nice after we put the right parts into it - go figure. It did take me a couple of beers to figure out the incorect gasket, since the wrong one is very close in size to the right one - very slight difference. It also took 3 beers to get the seized secondary idle screw out and to fabricate a new one. It only took 1 beer to do the bench setup (which ended up actually being pretty darned close - we bolted the carb up on Steve's car, and it ran pretty good right off the bat). The final adjustments and bitching about the "pros" who had previously rebuilt the carb only took 27 minutes - amazing how common it is for guys to install incorrect gaskets in these things.
Be sure to let us know how it ends up running on your own engine - I'd be curious to hear how it runs for you, so post us back once you're all set up.
Hey VNV - You gotta' quit getting those pictures of me from my mom.

Yup, that's the one - The CCC has it taped up and proudly displayed on the column of my hydraulic lift in my garage. We also have the Texas State flag that 427HotRod brought with him when he came out. Pretty soon, my entire garage decor will be Forum memorabilia.
