502/502 being readied and dropped in
we bolted on the flywheel (took off flex plate) and clutch, roller pilot bearing, bellhousing, P/S brackets and a few other bits and lifted it up and in - getting close to firing this thing (had to create some brackets for electric fuel pump so we wouldn't drill the frame) - should be soon

What did you do for the clutch linkage pivot ball?
Did you get an external balanced flywheel?
Do they come with a normal rotation water pump or is it a serpentine type?
I have a buddy with that motor in my old 68 SS/RS Camaro I sold him, It sure is sweet!

Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but I am getting only red X's, no pictures, on any of your 502 posts. When trying to access the pictures at: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-...7/goingup.JPG,
I get an error to the effect that your daily usage quota has been exceeded. Just thought you might like to know.

i don't know why you can't see the pics (its the first time i ever posted pictures), but they show up on my browser
for the clutch pivot ball i bought a bracket that scoggin dickey sells for $60 which bolts to the bellhousing and allows you to mount the cross shaft. This necessitated moving the oil pressure line to an outlet on the top back of the engine (near the bellhousing - like a small block). The flywheel is the recommended Gen VI flywheel which I also bought from Scoggin for about $100
the biggest PIA is the fact that you need an electric fuel pump - we designed a simple, neat bracket that mounts it to some of the existing bolts in the back of the car and also allowed us to mount the relay in a very neat manner

Re: 502/502 being readied and dropped in (INMYBLOOD)
so here's the deal on why the photos don't show up - I used VillagePhotos.com to free host the pics (I don't think the Forum is providing space anymore for members to host the pictures) - Once we use up 5 mb of bandwidth per day, they lock access, so here is another way to see the pictures - also, if anyone has a better place/way to host pictures please let me know - thanks - Joe

Re: 502/502 being readied and dropped in (427390)
Looking good, Joe. I went down a similar route (but used the 454HO). While I would have preferred the 502/502 I figured I couldn't get enough tire under the car to even handle the 454 (425hp/500ft-lbs). The other "nice" thing about the 454HO was the ability to add the mechanical fuel pump. The only draw back to any of these crate engines in unaltered form is that the large oil pan sits down much lower than the stock pan (and is a target for raised manhole covers).
I'm sure you will enjoy it, but do let us know how long the rear tires last...

Re: 502/502 being readied and dropped in (Denney)
Denney - Funny thing....I had a 454 HO on order from Scoggin Dickey from last October - they simply couldn't deliver - I wanted it cause of the mec. fuel pump (and I'm sure it was enough power - yeah right!) so i called like 20 GM Perf. Parts dealers, even asking for the 502 HO - none to be had anywhere in the country - I'll bet you still can't get em now - So in early April, I bit the bullet (like I needed to be pushed) and ordered the 502 from GM Parts Direct - best price AND delivered in like 7 business days - I did a little side deal with the shipping co. and paid an extra $85 to get it delivered home instead of to the commercial/business address which most crate motor sellers want.
So, since I haven't yet driven the car with the 502 - tell me how is the 454? what gears do you have (I have a 3:36 rear which I think is going to help with the traction) - Joe
