Hooking up backup light switch to Hurst shifter on my 64
My car had backup lights as an option, but when the stock shifter was replaced with a Hurst shifter (before I bought the car), the backup light switch was removed. Can a replacement backup light switch be hooked up to a Hurst?

Yes. The original light switch, link lever, and mounting bracket will work. Either use a stock Corvette reverse lever with the hole for the link lever, or drill a hole in the Hurst reverse lever to accept the link lever.
In my 66 I am using all GM transmission levers and linkage rods with a Hurst shifter. They are heavier, and stiffer. :lurk:

Just to clarify. The backup light switch and related parts were taken off the car and I don't have them. I am planning to order the correct replacement switch, switch rod, bracket, switch shield and switch mount screw set and parts from Corvette Central. Is that all I need to order!

Check around to see if you can find the harness connector that the switch is supposed to plug into. It should be somewhere around the firewall/bellhousing area. I was never able to find one on my car, I think someone butchered the harness.

IF you have a Hurst shifter...your reverse lever will not have the hole in it for the reverse "light switch arm" ...therefore you'll have to find a Stock reverse lever for a pattern...
Take the Stock one and lay it on top of Hurst one, clamp them together....drill hole the same size as the stock hole...
