Default '67 valve cover question?

Just picked up a set of new valve covers for my '67 350hp with the "line" in the O. The valve covers seem to have a lot of marks and flaws in them although they were brand new in the box. Are they supposed to be smooth or do they all look like this?

Originals were a lot smoother than the later over the counter units. the tooling was very worn, and quality control was not as good.

Chevrolet probably produced a lot more "Corvette" valve covers after 1967 than before and during. 67 was, of course, the last year those covers were a production item.
