How many 1964 Corvettes still exist??
Has anyone seen any official estimates (like from GM) of how many 1964, or other mid-year, Corvettes still exist?
If I remember correctly, for 1964, there were about 22000 made with about 8000 of those coupes.

One of them is in Vero Beach, Fla. and gets driven everyday. The odometer doesn't work but I'd estimate it's got approx. 700k miles (3rd engine).

When I restored mine in 1982, the odometer didn't work but the speedometer did. I took it to a place by Greensburg, Pa and had it rebuilt.
Since 1982, I've only put about 3K miles on it, but now the speedometer quit.
Where is the best place to send the speedometer assembly to get fixed?

Tom Piper,
There isn't one in my garage in Wa.
Sorry, can't be of any help on this one.
It would be interesting to know though. :yesnod:

If I had to take a guess, I would say that somewhere on the order of 80% of the 64's are still around in one form or another. :seeya

Well. I have one. Exist or on the road? I would say the number still on the road is between 25 and 50%. Lots of cars got trashed back in the 70s when they were relatively cheap. They may exist somewhere as wrecks or in a field but will probably never see a road again.

I'd guess less than 50% are still around.
Got mine in 69 (nice rhyme eh?)

My 64 coupe is still hangin' in there with 59250 miles and with 80% of the original paint and still looks great. 300HP, PG, PW, PB, PS, Posi, Full tinted windows, AM/FM and white walls. A joy to drive. Washed and waxed it this afternoon so I can drive it on a Poker Run this Saturday. Life is great.

The odometer problem is very common.

I think there are a lot more that have survived than people think. I'm guessing that 90% are still out there in one form or another. Actual Road Worthy Cars?? I'd say 75%.

My guess is about 40% are still road worthy.
