Bill, named my 59 Fuelie after Chuck Berry's Mayebelline, because she can't be counted on sometimes to be true. But she's good enough to keep around till death due us part! Being an "old timer" I can get the large majority of the 28 correct answers, but the remainder I'll give the old age memory excuse!

Yesterday was the anniversary of the first rock concert;
“The Moondog Coronation Ball was a concert held at the Cleveland Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 21, 1952. It is generally accepted as the first major rock and roll concert”.

I'm only 57, but nailed that quiz. Hell, I was listening to my dad's old Lionel Hampton and Freddie Slack 78's when I was 12-13 years old and writing with antique fountain pens, when I wasn't typing up homework assignments on my 1919 Remington Standard typewriter, which I of course still have.........agree that everything worth hearing was pretty much recorded prior to 1985. Since the birth of cRap music about 1987, it's really gone downhill. I can't believe the kids today think this schmaltz is COOL.....you hear them blasting some insipid crap that's synthesized and has expletives every other word, with a hook stolen from a classic R&B or rock song, and compare it to '409' or anything else recorded 1940-1970, and there is no comparison. One is music, the other, crap.

Missed three. How about a hard one?
Even knowing the answers, still didn't register. Guess I never heard the song before.

Melting Slicks
Hello again from 18 months since the last post! I watched the posted concert video and must concede the words WERE "413's lead is startin' to shrink". Thnks, SDvette!
The Shutdown Volume 2 cover has a '64 Pontiac Grand Prix next to the SWC. Some people claim it's a GTO, but the fake fog light turn signals were a GP exclusive. I recall that Carl owned the Grand Prix.
And Dennis's possessive body language standing in the Corvette's open door suggests strongly that it was one of his cars. When the Capitol Records checks started coming in, his first purchase was an E-type Jag coupe.

Beach Boys Corvette
i happended to be in San francisco on a Sunday at Ellis Chevrolet way
back in 1967 looking at some corvettes for sale. i remember looking
over at the street as i heard a corvette approaching and it parked in
front of the dealership. a little short guy gets out of the corvette and
approaches me and introduces himself as Mike Love of the Beach Boys.
i told him i was in the service and had just got orders for Viet Nam and
was just kind of dreamin and droolin about someday buying a corvette.
he told me that the one he was driving was a 64 and he was thinking
about buying a newer corvette for himself? i assumed the one he was
driving was borrowed from another member of the beach boys and did
not belong to him? anyway we chatted for a while and looked at some
corvettes and we finally said good bye and went our separate ways.
he was a very pleasant man and seemed to be friendly enough.

Sometime during the 90's while the Beach Boys were on tour, Mike Love picked up a new corvette at Fitzpatrick Chevrolet in Concord CA. Apparently the tour promoter gave new cars to each member of the band and Mike was friends with Jerry Fitzpatrick Jr. and elected to pick up his corvette at the dealership. There was an article and photo in our local newspaper. Appears Mike was a true corvette enthusiast.

I had the Beach Boys at my Viper Plant for a formal-wear charity dinner and concert for 1200 people, benefitting the Barbara Karmanos Cancer Institute, in 1997. Beach Boys were terrific, cost $250,000 for that evening - I wrote the check.

Not to argue, but I probably listened to that song about a million times when it came out.....
1. I always thought it sounded like 2 cool sharks. Maybe not
4. I GUARANTEE that is was Super Stock Dodge in the original. Darts hadn't even been thought of in late 62 or 63 with the 413. full sized cars ran Super Stock.
6. He's GOT the ram induction
I first saw the Beach Boys on tour in 63, and they did indeed have suits and ties on stage. and the audience sat in seats. Seems weird now, but that was a different time.
PS- when I got out of the Army in 68, had a brand new Chevelle SS396 with an 8 track tape player. Spent $4.95 for a Beach Boys album called Pet Sounds. I listened to about 10 seconds of each song on the tape, then threw it out the window. Worthless crap. Quit listening to the Beach Boys for about 10 years.

2. The first Dodge Darts were introduced for the 1960 model year. 118" w/base. In 1962 Dodge Dart was like the Plymouth, on a new lightweight uni-body "B" Body platform (this is the year, make, & model), the Beach Boys sang about in the song. A Super/Stock Dart (a smaller Dodge model). In 1963, the Dodge Dart became an "A" Body sub-compact; thus becoming the 3rd Generation Dodge Darts (1963–1966).
3. The correct lyrics are "HOT" with Ram Induction.
Just the facts, man... CHEERS!
Note the 1962 Dodge Dart, in the pic. "DODGE" letters on hood, & "DART" script on door...It's also a "413"

I just so happen to find Brian Willson’s ORIGINAL 1966 Corvette Convertible. It is Yellow with a Black interior 327/350hp and it is documented with the Original Protect O Plate with Brian Willson’s name/address on it... along with other history to back it up... this is the real deal car owned by the lead singer or beach boys! Still Original and Unrestored!
