Don, you have made some great progress.
I sold my '66 last summer. I was having some serious health issues and did not want my wife to have to sell it if something happened to me. Doctors were not too positive on my prognosis so I didn't want to leave my wife with another headache. I ended up with a double heart bypass in October. It has been a long road to recovery but I now feel great and hoping for a great summer in my 2024 Corvette. I didn't get out much last summer as I was in the hospital three different times for a total of 23 days so I'll be out in the C8 every chance I get. Hopefully I'll get out to see you and the restored '64.
Steve
PS: YES, I miss the '66...........................

Steve I'll have to get that stone and dirt driveway paved so you and Paul can bring your Vettes up the hill to visit! Glad to hear you are on the mend and ready to roll up the miles.
Chris, THAT kind of grass doesn't take the hours on the mower that mine does. But to be honest sometimes I enjoy the mindless back and forth on the rider. I just need to get one with a wider mower deck I guess.
Like the Jerry Reed song, "When you're hot, you're hot!"
Steering column secured
Tires ordered, will arrive tomorrow
New limit switches for headlights arriving tomorrow
Headlight bulbs arriving Monday
Installed a different right side headlight motor, now both work.
Had a phone conversation with a shop about the upcoming alignment and inspection.
A few other minor steps forward.
I have to share a chuckle with y'all, those who are also working on "project cars" may relate. It's helpful to me to have various sub-assemblies separated, using small plastic crates, old baking pans, box lids, etc as size dictates. The left headlight bucket here, the right side motor, bearings, etc there, and so on. It's a constant battle to find stuff even with the attempts at organization.
Monday as we were preparing to come home, I went through the whole workbench putting tools back in drawers, throwing out boxes, gathering up the AIM, clipboards, note pads, work lights, all the toys. Wiped down most of the workbench then went to put the assorted parts back. Looked around the shop puzzled for a second looking for where I put the stuff - and then realized most of what I was looking for is NOW INSTALLED ON THE CAR! Yes there's still a lot to do, but it's starting to be a little less overwhelming. It's a great feeling.
I just stumbled across this, now I’m going to have to start back to your first post! Hopefully I can get motivated to start on my 64 vert. Thanks for posting!

Hope it will provide that motivation! It's a fun and educational journey that is nowhere near complete but has been very rewarding. This forum is full of helpful, encouraging members who have helped me over so many bumps in the road.
Don, get it on the street by May, we'll meet @ Goodman St and pretend it's 1974 again ! LOL !!
Good to hear progress is being made !
Dave, I try to avoid that area these days, there's a LOT of thing different today from 1974 (such as what a C-2 costs!). Are you bringing the Vette this time?
No, having just gotten back from Florida it's still in hibernation. When I get it out next week I plan on selling it this spring, I've got several interested parties, first dibs will go to a fella from Bflo.
I no longer desire dealing with two 'toys' and my '67 will always be my fav ! Time to expand on the KISS principal !!
I understand, Dave. I'm sure you will be sorry to see it go even though you feel it's time. I will never live long enough to finish all my projects nor to totally clean out the shop, garage, basement and everything else. If you hear of me checking out, buy stock in the local dumpster company because the kids will have them on speed dial!
A milestone weekend, both on the calendar and in the shop. Actually went out there Thursday afternoon, came home today. Today marks 8 years since we bought it and started home from Iowa with the U-Haul. This is the pic from the "Opinions on these C1/C2 for sale" thread on this forum that led to it.
This week's accomplishments:
Backed it out to check if I had improved the brakes (yes) and to see if the parking brake works (no)
Put left side up on blocks, removed 2 shabby Ralley wheels. Will have the shop tires removed so I can blast them and paint them.
Installed new headlight limit switches
Installed headlights - they work!
Investigated why parking brake doesn't work. Oh yeah - when installing new rear calipers, I had backed the adjustment way off. I adjusted that. Can't test it with only 2 wheels on the car but the handle feels "normal" now so I think that's all set.
Started seat belt installation, have a separate thread working on the problem there.
Installed hood release cables. Don't have a new handle for under the dash yet but had an old manual choke cable on the shelf which will function just fine for now.
Enlisted the bride's help, mounted the hood.
Still a ton of stuff to do, adjust, install etc. Hood hits on something when lowered, I suspect the MC needs to be tilted farther forward/down but that's another day.
It's starting to look like a Corvette!

Nice work Don. You will soon be able to drive down and finish mine.
I knew I had some special date last week but couldn’t figure it out. Guess I brought mine home on the uhaul five days before you did. I know Pat and Holt were around the same time as well.

I think it was the same time, or within a week, I drove to Iowa to buy a blue '64 and Pat & Holt drove to about 20 miles from my home to buy a blue '64. I had not known about that one. And IIRC you brother's car came from NY to TX as well. But I guess the degree of mystique increases with the distance traveled.
