I used dual filament LED headlights from Summit. They are half the price of others and good quality. The orange tape lines are a rough mock up of my mustache and stripe plan. I always hated this plastic corrugated split loom. Why use that when you can use braided nylon with shrink wrap. The old connectors needed to be replaced anyway.
The connectors were prewired with three leads ready to be spliced into the harness. I spliced them together and with the original connector that plugs into the headlight harness, covered them with braided split loom and heat shrink tubing.
That’s a wrap for today. Actually, that will be tomorrow!
I have the mustache and stripe laid out. I’m going for something like this, but my color is metallic silver so it won’t be as pronounced. This just pisses me off. This is 3M Precision line. It is the only cutting tape that can handle ppf. That steel line is what cuts the film and it cuts exactly where the steel line is positioned. See that little jog? That would ruin a days work. Fortunately I noticed it as I was inspecting the layout and was able to replace it. The orange fine line tape is the guide for the cutting tape. Compound curves make this tricky and that is all a Corvette has! Once everything is as good as I think I can get it, I removed the fine line. This is ready for tomorrow morning. My stripe will be 7/16” with a 7/16” gap from the main stripe which is 11” wide.
I still have to cut the lexan covers and that is making me nervous!
The C2 FIA headlight lens fit flush with the body unlike a C3 where they lay on the body.So for sure it's going to be a bit of a challenge. After cutting the nose up for the buckets you have certainly developed your skills. Hopefully this will be less stressful and easier to work with. The transformation will be nothing short of amazing when completed. It's going to be a different car when your done. Mark you are making it yours. Great vision!

Thanks, Jack, they will be a summation of tolerances. The buckets are a slightly different dimension than my nose, I was +/-16th” in my cutting, and the lexan covers do not match the buckets perfectly. They are directionally correct at best. I’ve attempted to align everything to the top of the nose pushing most of the misalignment into the grill area. We will know this weekend how well I did!
A honey do got me a late start, but I got it 80% done.
I’m rusty so I got a few glue lines. Fortunately, they are hard to see. Tomorrow I’ll finish the headlight bucket area. Everything else is done. I found a couple more jogs in the Precision Line wire after I pulled the wire. Not as bad as the one yesterday, but noticeable. All things considered, it came out pretty good. I got a couple of tiny creases, but they’re under the nose.
Very nice work Mark. I've never attempted to do any wrap so know virtually nothing about it. Does it form over contours like the "stinger" without having to make any cuts ?
