Default WTB: Old SB Steel Valve Covers

For use when adjusting my 1965 L79's hydraulic lifters with the engine iding ..... Preferably with the center access slot-window already cutout (I'm trying to minimize oil splatter).

Ever try using tin foil over the oil end of the rocker?

I found one generic steel valve cover and drilled a hole over each adjustment point just big enough to insert a deep socket. Then I placed a strip of duct tape over each hole so that I can peel it back when adjusting an individual lifter. It works perfectly with no mess or fuss.

I think I used a simple tape measure to locate holes. You could also use a thin cutoff tool to cut out a slot the length of the cover and then cover with duct tape all but the area you are adjusting.

Default Here's a Nice Pair Ready for Action in a Few Days

Cutout slots are 16" x 1-3/8" ..... I'll use eight or nine 2" wide duct tape strips laid perpendicular across each cutout and peel back only one strip at a time.

Many thanks to Mike G. for preparing and shipping these clean and straight babies.

I'll really hate to get them dirty.
