Default 57 283 block,crank,rods and pop up pistons

I have removed a 283 Chevy block with rotating assembly from a car that was in storage since 61. It has 3.875 bore with pop up pistons.
I am getting conflicting values, but it is for sale.
Block casting 373548
Date code K146
Engine number FII2IE

Any information or offers is appreciated.

Those stamped characters indicate it was a base 283 w/4 barrel that could have been installed in either a passenger car or Corvette.

FII2IE

translates to

F = Flint engine plant
II = 11th month (Nov)
2I = 21st day
E = 283, 220 hp, 4bbl, manual trans, in a pass car or truck.

What makes this engine valuable is that it could be "converted" to a Corvette engine just by adding a letter to the end of the suffix code.

And since the last character in the Corvette engine codes was stamped individually in 1957, it would not have to line up properly, just close.

A standard bore 283 with this "capability" has got to be worth a few pennies to someone needing a correct engine for a late Nov / early Dec build Corvette.

Maybe $1K on a good day.

As I stated there are conflicting views of the value, and the intended application.
Still considering offers.
Thanks,
George

I could go into an explanation of how to interpret the GM documentation but, I think we can just agree to disagree. My statements on the engine possibilites remains true.

3. Best Offers & Gauging Interest

The forum will permit "OBO" or "serious offers" in a sale thread where a price has been stipulated.

We will not permit threads where no price is stated, and asks for open offers.

Members are not permitted to "gauge interest," in their item for sale thread. Such threads will create an ebay type auction, and that is unacceptable. Sellers must create their thread with an asking price included.

Only forum vendors are permitted to gauge interest in their products.
