Default 1955 exhaust manifolds

1955 exhaust manifolds I have had for years. Got them at a swap meet trade. These are the 2nd design in very nice shape with the original heat riser still intact. $125.00 plus shipping. Thanks all. Troy.

The 3836968 manifold is a 1956 passenger car manifold. The heat rise on this 3836968 manifold is not a 1955 Corvette heat riser.

The 3704791 is a first design Corvette and passenger car manifold.

Seems like you are a little confused! The 3704791 manifold has a early and late design that is found on both the Flint and Tonawanda castings.

First I recognize that you have far more knowledge of these Dinosaur years ('53-5) by leaps and bounds than I will ever have.

You are right I should have said his 3837069 manifold where I said 3704791 is a manifold that may have been used on late '55 Corvette as well as '56 passenger cars. Please school me here. Were either of the second design manifolds 3837069 & 3728750 ever actually used on a late '55 Corvette?

I am aware that Flint and Tonawanda both cast the 3704791 manifold and they do differ. Also that the Flint manifold has a strengthening rib above the dump.

Can you shed light on the R.H. manifold # 3711634?

Flint and Tonawanda have the same castings except Tonawanda uses a date code. In May of 55 both Tonawanda and Flint changed to the rib style manifold. In September it appears that Gm attempted a casting change with 3837067, but failed. This is a one week only casting that is replaced by 3837069. # 3704791(no rib), 3704791(ribbed), 3837067 and 3837069 can be found on 55 corvette's driver side. The 3837069 will be verified when information on 55 #699 and #700 is released.

The 3837069 and 38369968 will be verified when information on 55 #699 and #700 is released. The 53-55 judging guide does not say how they come up with a lot of their information so how they came up with #3728750 is a mystery to me. They need to have a keynote on the car that they are using as a reference.
The only thing I can say for sure, is that Scopeli is "The Man", when it comes to '55 Corvette parts knowledge.

Looking over notes on #699 and #700 I can only verify the driver side manifold being #3837069. I will have to check other late 55 corvettes for the #3836968 and #3728750.

I did not recognize #3711634, but I see it is listed in my 53-55 parts catalog and the 55 chevy part catalog as the RH manifold. The parts catalogs do not have casting number #3704792 so evidently when you ordered part #3711634 you get casting #3704792. In the 56 catalog, #3711634 is replaced by #3728750. #3836968 that replaced #3704792 is not listed in the 56 catalog. It appears that when you ordered #3728750 you were getting the RH manifold with casting #3836968.

Default 3704791 LH manifold

Hope the "date" censors let this one through LOL
FYI here is a '55 ? left side exhaust manifold I have finally cleaned up for your perusal / comment gentlemen.
Is that the "rib" that is referred to - on the back of the mnfld above the outlet flange ?
Jerry
