Default LGT-700 5 speed New in Box

Bought this a few years back for my 1965 car. Never got around to using. This is a brand new 5 speed in the box and has the upgraded micro-finished gearset. The LGT was designed efficiently to take up very little space in the tunnel and install with no fiberglass cutting. High torque capacity for big power and fast shifting. These are superior transmissions and are hard to get your hands on. $4500 or best offer

I went to the Legend computer site. It states they no longer sell the 700. Their focus is on parts and accessories. Did they run into problems ?

I've been trying to buy one for a couple years, but according to Jody's transmission, one of their dealers, Legend doesn't have the tooling to build the parts and can't or won't invest the money to do so. Their existing tooling is used for other markets/products. Too bad as its a great transmission.

I'll 2nd what Ken said on this great transmission. Reliability, shifting ease, quiet (no gear whining). I've got going on 18,000 miles on mine. It's the close ratio version offered back then through Keisler. The ratios on mine are:

1st - 2.66
2nd -1.78
3rd - 1.30
4th - 1.00
5th - .68

Patman65, I'd post up the gear ratios of your SS700 as they did offer a wide ratio version as well.

Bump to the top for the seller. GLWS!

Regards,

Jim

Thanks for the bumps, busy at work again, just to confirm the gear ratios,

2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, .68

I know several people putting 500 hp through these gear boxes they shift fax an built to withstand abuse.

Very interested....

Do you know, can you use a factory style mechanical clutch?

Will this mount to the factory cross-member?

Does the factory drive shaft work or will a longer/shorter one be required?

I was looking for one of these a year or so ago, but when I realized they stopped making them, I gave up.

Thanks for the info!

I wish that had the correct shift location to fit my Chevelle. I've been on a list to get one of these for a year and a half.

You'll have to buy a shortened driveshaft and buy the crossmember mount. If your serious and decide to purchase, I can send you to the right place for that. it will use the same clutch style with one exception you'll need a 26 spline clutch disk.

I wonder how hard it is to get a shifter to fit a 1967 Chevelle?
