Default 63-66 rag joint

I'd like an NOS or VERY nice original, it must have the 7-layer rag, be properly built with heat attached rivets (not the bolts from the cheap rebuild kits) with excellent splines and bolt threads...

I don't see any...item number ? link ?

If its the one they call their "upgrade" its for a power steering car converted with modern components and the actual "rag" fabric is crap.

Original power steering AND manual cars used the same rag joint in 63.

Frank, I came across this guy on CL and see that he may have what you are looking for. Worth a shot.

Did he have a rag joint? His description seemed as though he might have had one that was NOS.

He does - he wants absolute top dollar for it though - which I agreed to; the eBay used ones are junk and the rag is tattered on many of them and the splines are worn - which may be why they were removed...

NOS versions are not appearing at all hardly...so I "sucked it up" and will buy off him - thanks for the lead!

I would rather have bought from a forum member; I really wish if people are going to respond to a WTB thread and offer up pictures of a part that they would follow through..

Glad to hear that you at least found what you really wanted, albeit pricey. You have been a huge help for me over the last several months sorting out some things on my '64, so glad it all worked out.

Again, thank YOU for the lead - this part should get the car through another 50 years....
For others -- this CL gent has many other 63 parts, headlight buckets, other one-year-only stuff but be advised, he is real "proud" of them price-wise...

Close, Tony bought part of Tom Reina's stock- I bought all the gears and Tony now has some of those. Tony is a good guy and maybe able to help with some rags but the material is still not common to come by. The quality rags are going to be over $200 each now - if you can find them OR someone comes up with a better option which I haven't seen yet.

In case anyone else is looking, I see that this guy has another NOS rag/joint advertised with pics on Craigslist. Price is $250 with original box. CL Springfield, MO.

Keep looking on ebay and here. There are no quality new rags sold today that I know of and I hope I am wrong. Long Island had the last of the good ones and they are gone now. I have a few left but they go with boxes but others out there may have some. I was just speaking to one person last night about this, he bought one of the common kits and it was no where close to fitting correctly. This is a great opportunity for sales if someone can find the quality material that Saginaw used. Expect to pay $200 or more for a real one. Good luck.
