'57 Powerglide automatic parts
I recently bought a '57 Corvette that was originally equipped with a Powerglide automatic transmission. I'm trying to find all the parts to take it back to that.
About 25 years ago (three owners back) this car was converted into a fake factory 4-speed configuration. All the Powerglide parts were removed and not given to the next car owner. Thanks to Rick Gower, I now have a cast iron PG core with a Corvette tailshaft with mounting bracket. However, I'm still without theshifter w/linkage, kick-down linkage, dipstick w/tube, flexplate, torque converter, and #904 starter relay. I do have a neutral safety switch and an iron flexplate housing. With the exception of the shifter, I believe '57 passenger car parts will fit and function just fine.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Jerry;
If I recall correctly, for 1956 and 1957 the powerglide also needs a separate transmission mounting bracket that bolts to the rear of the car. I have a repo one
that is your if you need it.

Re: 1960fi powerglide parts
KIckdown linkage is 1957 and later, 56 used a different linkage arrangement. Shifter is not a 56, so I am guessing 1957 as well.
Good luck to both of you.

Burning Brakes
Drill a hole on top of the main housing for venting before installing the transmission. You will see a vent in the powerglide that is pictured in this tread.

Thanks for posting photos of your parts, George. While I'm confident your linkage and dipstick will bolt up to my transmission, they don't look exactly like the examples I've seen of '57 model assembly line parts.

Of course, I can't tell what torque converter and flexplate are there either. A '57 torque converter has a ring of 36(?) bolts around the outer edge. I don't know if that converter design was used in '58.

Jerry, I have a 56 passenger car trans. that I would sell. It is apart. I believe it is complete with torque converter. Asking $150. plus shipping.

It's impractical for me to buy your entire transmission because of the distance involved, unfortunately. The cost of motor freight would be $200 - $300. Also, I could probably only use your torque converter and flexplate. If you'd like to sell those separately, please send me photos of them.
