I jumped to the third page here, but in case no one has said it yet: Try adjusting the worm gear in your steering box. If I remember corectly, it's a set screw type deal. Loosen the nut that locks it down and tighten the screw. See if that takes some play out. It worked on mine. Good luck and glad you get to be back to the good ol USA and your vette!!!
