Default 17 in. Cragar S/S

I've read all the old posts, but am still not sure which
17 inch Cragar S/S wheels will fit on C3's. They sell the
17 in. Cragars in either 3.5 or 4.5 in. backspacing.
(I have 15 in. stock Rally wheels now on a '77).

Will the 4.5 backspace wheels fit without spacers?
Or should I get 3.5 in. backspacing?

And will 245/50 17 in. tires fit without rubbing anywhere?

The 17 in. Cragars are $200 each (at Jegs or
Summit), which seems like a good deal.

If you're concerned about rubbing/hitting the outside fender lip, go with the 4.5" BS and shim/space the wheel outward, if needed.

I ran 17" forged Cragars on my car last year. I got the 4.5 BS, and had to use 1/4" spacers in the rear (stock TA's). Tires are 255/45, I think.

everybody on here buys the same Arerican Racing TTII's for a reason.

THEY FIT.

No Cragar SS fits perfectly, so almost nobody has them.

DON'T use spacers, man. They are VERY dangerous on a high performance car.

Thanks for the advice. It makes sense.
I just ordered four 17x8 TT II's from Newstolgia.

Thanks again.

You are correct on both accounts. I've got Boyd's going on with 4" BS, because everybody buys TTII's. There are other choices.

I used spacers, but they were machined solid billet with centering reliefs, and longer (correct lenght) lug nuts.

There are plenty of options, you just have to make them fit, Offset trailing arms, proper width of the wheel and proper size of the tire all goes into making it fit. You can fit 5.5 inches of backspacing and make a 9.5 inch rim work fine with offset trailing arms and shorter length mono.
