Default Can the car handle alittle fun?

Just feeling alittle paraniod, help ease my mind for some vette fun next month. I have a 71 coupe 4sp 350/270, engine rebuilt few upgrades runs strong and soild no issues, just upgaded in winter, rear supension with comp spring 330lbs,new rubbber on spring and sway bar, HD strut rods, new shocks(KYB GR2) and new calipars (stock) all around with ceramic pads, stainless steel hoses and just last week put on new shoes, 17 X 8 Smoothies with 255/45/17 Nittos. Questions is , In May the Corvette Classic is on and they have a day of Autocrossing and track driving. Did the Autocross for the first time last year and had a freak'in blast. ( car was stock)
Feels like now my weakest link is the steering ( works fine, just valve leaks). The car just feels really sweet now and the tires are really sticky.
Will the steering and other older stress points hold up to a few fun laps on the track. Its mainly different feeling of the wheels and tires compared to stock feeling (using the car to slide on crapy tires/ feels like now I need about 300 more horses to break'm loose) I just don't want to kill it, or brake anything.

Just want to hear "hell yes it can take it it's a Vette"

Thanks. J

as long as your suspension and steering is tight, you have no worries...check the steering coupler, that should be tight, if not, replace it

He$$ yes it can take it. I have drag raced my car and autox also. I don't take it easy on the car when I do this also. As long as all the parts are in good shape have at it. Here is a picture of me at the autox last year. The first is a spin I took, lost it in a corner but kept on it and roasted the tires. The one in the signature is a little better turn. I have since put on 17" rims and 255 45 17s.

Got any pics? I am interested in seeing those Smoothies. That was my first choice in a set of wheels. Thay are great looking wheels in my opinion.

The only thing I broke on mine during an autocross is one the tabs for the rear spring on the differential cover.

Don't want to jinx you but it is something you should look out for since the standard diff cover commonly breaks.

Thanks, I love them just got them 2 week ago. The edge they have on the spoke makes them allittle meaner. As soon as I get into the 21 century and buy a freak'in digital camera I will post some.

i'd stick with autocrossing for a while before going to the track since when something breaks in autox, you usually just slide to a stop. When something breaks on the track, you can find yourself in a wall quickly.
