Default Aftermarket Guage Question

What size fits in the console? I assume 2 1/16, but I just wanted to be sure. I am looking at the Auto Meter Cobalts. Anyone mounted these, or similar? What mods (if any) are required to the bezel?

TIA

i went w/the phantoms also. i also went w/the angle rims due to the fact that a couple of the 2 1/16th gages fell rite thru my bezel holes but i really like the angle rings

WHere did you get those angled bezels?

I am looking at the COBALT guages. I think I saw someone else around here with them. Is the wiring a nightmare? I would imagine it's quite simple.

the angled bezels can be bought most places you get the gauges, Jegs, Summit etc. Check under gauge hardware or mounting. (got to buy in sets of 3 I think) I made mine out of about $1.50 worth of PCV pipe.

I have the Cobalts. I can't post them right now as I'm at work, but if you look under my recents posts, you should be able to find a pic.

They are all 2/16, the only thing you have to do to the faceplate is grind out a little, The wiring isn't bad, just get a good schematic for your particular vette. I butt spliced/insulated all the sensor wires and used a good solder joint to bundle the power, light and ground wires. The Cobalts come with their own harnesses that you plug into the back of the gauges.

I looked, but no luck. Can you re-post when you get a sec? Have any shots at night time?

I goofed in my writing, I only butt-spliced the oil pres, volt and water temp sender wires to use the original harness. The rest was run whole as a new harness.

79lsi Do you have any pics of your dash, I see you added 3 more guages there, I would like to see what you added and how it came out.

I ordered my Cobalts today. I decided to go with an A/F meter to replace the clock.

I really don't care fot it and am going to just have 5" tach and speedo when Autometer comes out with them in the fall and go with the original faceplate and indicator lights.

Did you try to install the cobalts in the stock location??

That's what I intended originally, but right now the tach and speedo only come in 3 3/8", so I tried a compromise. I didn't think that the smaller tach/speedo would look very good by themselves. That, and I saw them lit up at the store, went ape sh#@. You sometimes don't know if you'll like something until you see it. I like Fauxrs setup much better, so I'm going to do a version of that.
