I put my car alarm on the phone
I got my cellalarm in the mail from www.Bustthem.com this week and hooked it up to my car alarm. It works great. If my car alarm goes off, the cellalarm calls the phone I carry. One more level of protection, and a good one too.
It's a 3 wire hookup; 12volt power, ground, 12volt siren/speaker/horn of your existing car alarm. When the alarm goes off, the cellalarm calls any number you have entered as a target. My target is the company cell phone I carry 7x24.
I took the modified Nokia cell phone from Bustthem.com to a Cingular store, and they inserted a sim chip, and signed me up for a year of basic national service on it. It also works as a cell phone via a slide switch mounted on the case. The phone is charging from your car battery whenever it is left on duty as an alarm.
The Cingular people told me the sim equipped CellAlarm phone could be located by calling 911 - which would also locate the car.
This also prevents the alarm from going off till the battery is dead, while annoying everyone in the hotel - trying to sleep during a thunderstorm. I have been there.

Sounds neato! I am in the process of installing a 2 way Viper in my car. It doesnt have the range of your cell device, but it pages the remote when the car is disturbed, and also trsansmits a trace-able signal from the unit.

If you request the order page at Bustthem.com, you see the $200 price - which includes a moidified Nokia phone and a black box that has a spring cord to plug into the phone to charge it from the car battery, and to signal it to call out. The black box connects with 3 wires, power, ground, alarm horn/speaker/siren.
There is a switch on the bottom of the Nokia that selects alarm or phone duty. Once you register the phone with the company of your choice and get a sim chip put in, you pay for the cell phone plan that you select from them.
It is odd to walk away from your Corvette knowing it will call you if the alarm goes off.

vetteguy75 - I just went there and clicked on the features, the contact-us, and the ordering buttons in the blue bar at the top - they work for me. Must be your browser settings.
