stocker (am-fm stereo, no tape) with an amp. boom box for road trips. I like the stock look plus no burglar bait.

Before: AM/FM with 2 Dynomax super turbos in back. nice

Now: JVC CD/DVD/MP3 Player (without dvd screen) , no amp., with 6"x9" 4-way in back and 4" round 2-way in the center console.

Now I have a choice: engine or music

I've been using the FM Mod for about three weeks. Here is a link to a post on it, complete with pics while it is in the car.

FM Mod Post

I think it all depends on where you live as to how well it works. I have no problems others reported problems with cross-over from broadcast on local stations.

Best thing, I can use it in any car. The sound is so-so in my stock Corvette but that's becasue it is stock radio/speakers. I think it sounds great in my Spyder - Infinity six speaker sound system.

Pioneer MP3-CD deck, Kicker 300 watt amp and a pair of Kicker 7x10s and 4x6s. I can hear it just fine at 70 with the tops off, so it's all good.

My stereo only plays what my MSD ignition broadcasts. It has a good beat, but way too many commercials.

Stock radio, with STEREO! Seriously, the clickity clack of the solid lifters and power ROAR of the 800 cfm holley and the whine from the M22 trans is mostly what I listen to.

What about external Amplifiers? I've seen some nice installs under the seats that I liked, what are some small-sized good amps and good places to install them. I'll install all below and may consider a sub if needed.

Here's what I'll be running in my 69 Convertible (no side pipes):

-Pioneer DEH-3700MP MP3 Ready Head Unit w/ Remote
-Pair of Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X698 6X9" Speakers (rear)
-Pair of Q-Logic QL-69W Wedge 6X9" Boxes (rear)
-Some Poly-Fill for rear 6X9" Boxes
-Pair of Kenwood KFC-467C or *KFC-X468C eXcelon 4X6" Speakers

(4X6" for front lower kick-panel area) *I'll use the eXcelons listed below if they fit and AMP all 4 speakers.

Comments?

My only comment is that there is not much room at all under the seats. I looked at putting a couple of amps there too, but there is no vertical room unless your amp size is pretty small.

I use an iPod and independent amp playing through the factory speakers. I mounted the iPod on a stalk that goes in the ash tray (using a separate ash tray).

I gave up on Custom Autosound after putting in a remote mounted CD changer on the third try to get a stereo that would work for more than a week.

I tore out the factory AM/FM and tossed it and the speakers in the garbage. Saved a TON of weight!!! With open headers you can't hear anything anyway

Panasonic head unit and two 8" subs...loud enough with the PPI amp!

I've decided to go with the Kenwood receiver
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qkMyT3V...sp?I=113MP5028
Infiniti Kappa speakers and an adapter for my iPod. I haven't bought a cd in years (thanks to Apple's iTunes) so it will be great to play tunes with the iPod.
