Tech Session in So NH 7/16 Front End Rebuild
Come join us for a day of tools, tinkering, and tuning.
Our small group of participants and spectators from Tuning for Beer
are getting together again. We will be meeting in Hudson NH (on MA border).
Initially, we planned on doing two front suspension rebuilds, but that
has now been reduced to one rebuild on Paul's (greenice) 75 coupe.
Also, Joe (68coupe) will be doing some carb swapping and carb tuning
to get the last bug(s) out of his hesitation. Everyone is welcome to
stop by and hang out or help. If you are thinking about doing a front
suspension rebuild yourself, then definitely plan on making it.
This will be a great learning opportunity, and we might even put you to work.
We will try to follow Lars' front end rebuild techniques. Hopefully,
we won't encounter any major obstacles, but we will be prepared to
deal. There's always 'something', isn't there ?
The weather looks to be great for this weekend, so gas up the vette
and come on by. After the work is done, all are welcome back to my
place (15-20 minutes West) for swimming and BBQing. Do it.
Send me an email for directions, etc. dave@NHvette.com
For anyone interested, we have also started a Yahoo group to stay in
touch and plan stuff like this. If you'd like to join our group, click the
link below. We still need a good name for the group.
"Severely Salted Stingrays" (SSS or S3) had some interest, but
nothing overwhelming. Click it. Do it. DO it.

BTW - if you decide to come last minute, the directions/etc are
posted in the Yahoo group messages. This is Paul's brother's business,
so there will be no drinking allowed on the premises. There will be
plenty of time to celebrate after the work is completed.

there cools a bit, you will be properly motivated again. For us, it is the
peak of driving season with a high of 80-85 and 60 at night.
Soon enough, and the snowmobiles will have my attention.

Wish I could make it up there on Sat. I have my nice shiny VB&P suspension kit waiting to go on the frame. I have to play family mechanic that day - I already have 2 of our cars on jackstands in the driveway waiting for parts.
Be sure to take lots of pictures !

Are you guys going to get Mark (ML67) over there with the 540" '67???
Ok here's the deal....the GOAL for the group is to have as many C-2's and C-3's as possible operating at their peak by next Memorial Day weekend. Then all of you get in a line and head to Bowling Green for the Cruise In!
Mark SWEARS he's coming next year!!
Hope you guys have fun!

Sadly, Mark's motor is currently being worked on.
The bent valve might be the easy part to fix.
548" ... should be easy to whip someone at the track with a 427.
J/K Jim - I'd love to see your vette in person.
Memorial Day is tough for those of us that are just
waking up from hibernation. I'd love to make it down
for the cruise-in ... soon. Next year ? Maybe, but probably not.

Aawww..c'mon......
You have a whole year to get 'em all done!!
In Tx we drive this stuff almost all year round and wear it out....y'all get all winter to mess with them and make them nice!
The Forum Cruise In is the Center of the Vette universe....just can't imagine a whole group working together can't get all those dudes running!
Think positive..you sound like Mark last year..just couldn't get him to commit. Of course we tortured him with daily calls from BG reminding him of how much fun he was NOT having!!
You don't want to end up on THAT call list do you??? :-)

BTW no bent valve on mine -- just awaiting parts for putting everything back together. I had some disconcertingly large valve lash that prompted me to pull the intake and check lifters & cam. Everything is 4square (thankfully) and suggests I need a stud girdle to keep lash. Stud girdles and power brakes do not mix in a C2, so will reassemble and run w/o stud girdle for time being. I'll eventually get rid of PB or upgrade to shaft rocker system. Just takes time and money.....
Take care,
Mark
PS Dave, had pleasure of not only seeing, but driving Jim's Vette. It is a BEAST! And BG is a go for '06
