Default Price? '71 350/270hp

Unseen.
Black, 4spd, California car...just had a guy at a repair shop look at it. The guy wants 14k firm for it. No rust. Needs tune up. Needs tires. Needs exhaust pipes (mufflers good).

Forget pictures (/gulp)...that's why I had a mechanic look at it. Let's assume he was telling the truth and tell me what you guys/gals think!

Orginal owner, but not a lot of paperwork...

Any opinions?

Pat

That's not bad at that price, less 3000 for a very bad paint.

There is an original 71 350/270 with 4 speed in my local paper for $15,500.I believe it had 87K on it.I thought that was a good deal so if you can get one for less and its in good shape

Ooh..that's the one, 8T Shark. As a matter of fact, I just closed the deal at 13.8k. Frankly, I could have probably got it for less, but I figured it was a fair deal for both and he's taking it to San Fran for me for shipping. Supposedly the grandfather is the original owner and he has the original bill of sale...pretty neat. I haven't even seen the car, just had someone I don't know look at it on my behalf so this could be a real doozy when it pulls in to port.

I'll keep everyone posted.

congrats! I like the "original owner" part of the deal! There can't be too many of those around any more. I think my 68 had about 30 previous owners! There were no black vettes in 1971, so just out of curiosity check the trim tag to see what the original paint color was. Pics when you have em.

Would love to see pictures of it! I paid a bit more for mine, but the car's condition is what's important. Sounds like you're on to a great opportunity.

I sincerely hope so! Thanks so much for your support! I'll post pics as soon as I get it- probably in about 2 weeks or so.
