76 cc's, and a miserly 8.5:1 or 9:1, depending on whether you have the L-48 or L-82 engine.....

if your 5th digit of your VIN number is "L", then it has a L48 engine.

sounds like a ez way to tell but problem is motor is not in a car so i just know it is out of a 77 corvette, no longer have the vette around to get numbers off of

If the motor isnt in the car and you are anticipating a head swap, remove the heads...if the pistons are dished you will have an L-48 if they are flat top then you have an L-82.

also on the passenger side -front of the head - there is a flat area that is on the block (sticks out form under the head) here you will find a number and a three letter code..

180 HP with Automatic transmission - California emission CHD / CLC
180 HP with Automatic transmission - High altitude CKD / CLB
180 HP with Manual transmission CKZ
180 HP with Automatic transmission CLA
210 HP with Manual transmission CLD
210 HP with Automatic transmission CLF

one of those three letter combinations should appear - if there is nothing, then its likely the motor has been decked and the codes removed.
