Ideas for nice looking Valve covers...
My father owns a 78 silver Anniversary and he wants to dress up the engine compartment... He doesn't want to chrome it out, but wants something nicer then the plain L48 valve covers. I was thinking about L-82's, but they are really pricey. Is there anything out there that looks as good but with out the price?
Is there an open elament air cleaner that has the "Corvette" stamped into it??
Thanks
Dan

Billet Specialties make some really nice aluminum valve covers. About $90 but you get what you pay for.
Here are mine, "Heartbeat of America". You can get them from Summit or Jegs.

A stock looking engine can be made to look nice. You can find nice valve covers on ebay for a good price. Nice open air cleaner, a little paint and just a tad of chrome = a clean , but not over board engine compartment.

I was looking at getting the original aluminium finned valve covers for my 70, but was also looking at the ones you've got. I really like the ones you have - they look really cool.
I gotta wait til I get my car though before I buy any valve covers!

Ideas? U asked for it.
Well there's a lot of choices here. But the L82 covers off ebay or a swapmeet are gonna look the best for the money. Now u can spend close to $400 for some ugly fabricated tall aluminum covers - but are highly funtional for racing. Or u can strip & custom paint ur own old pair which is cheapest if u have a painting facility for good paint. Powder coating is close to $50 and has some great colors and variety. I'd like some new composite vlv covers for <$50 but u need to cut ur own breather holes and no baffles.
But IMHO the stock corvette vlv covers look best if u can find them with correct breather holes and baffles. And the rigid castings will seal better than the sheet metal covers.
