A warning to those of you with hooker sidepipes
Well I just did something stupid, and I hope to prevent it from happening to someone else. Well I just got back from a car show that was about an hour drive away, almost all highway and pulled the car back into the warehouse to put it away. I went through my normal clean up routing of dusting the car back off before covering it and started to put the car cover back on. Now mind you that I normally try to keep the cover off the sidepipes when I know they are hot but today they must of been extremely hot after almost straight highway driving for an hour and I melted a good size chunk out of my car cover and now have to clean my sidepipes of all the plastic like goo. Now it wasn't like it sat on there for like 5 minutes or anything, more like 30 seconds or less. So just be carefull and make sure the pipes are plenty cool before attempting to cover the car back up. Boy do I feel stupid after doing this

your cover is made of plastic? mines made out of some kind of soft flannel like material but still keep it away from hot sidepipes just in case

Many times riding my Harley I've melted my rain gear on the side pipes or some chick rested her heals on the side pipe. This is a easy fix. Get a pad of Brillo, SOS. Must have soap in the pad. It will clean off all your chrome. Only chrome!!!! Do not try it on anything else, it will scratch it... I don't know why, but it's a great chrome cleaner Try it you'll see!!

Pat, Better your cover than Phyllis's leg. Been there done that It's been a while but I think I used a plastic solvent (i.e. acetone) to soften/ remove. Risky when around paint though Good to see you guys....we need to plan a C3 StL Sharks event after you get your pipes clean

Ha, every time I read one of these stories, I think about my buddy Jess. We pulled into a car show one day, and walked over to register. When we came back, some kid's flip-flops were melted to the tops of his side pipes where the kid had tried to stand on them to see into the car!!! Never did find the kid, but it sure made a mess on his pipes!
