Default Loosing My Respect For "Corvette Fever Mag"...

...this month's issue has the "Top 15 Corvette SmallBlocks Exposed"

#7 is the L-82 that came out in 1975??? Alas, the '73 gets snubbed again

#9-1985 Engine Code L-82 WTF??? Over 40,000 cars. Wasn't it "L-98"

Back in Shark Bites the correct replacement tire on an early Shark is a P225/75-15. WTF???

...DAMN, if they are going to print INFO, at least get it f'kin right.

but I agree.......if they are going to post 'technical' info then they should get it bloody right!

Im going to get a subscription with Corvette fever magazine...as I can't just go and buy a corvette magazine off the shelf here in Australia!

The best magazine is this corvette forum!!!!!!!!!

I have lost respect for all of the Vette mags!!

I use to go to the local Barnes & Noble each month and buy Corvette Fever, Vette, and Corvette Enthusiast. But now all I buy is Car Craft, Hot Rod and Chevy High Performance.

It seems to me that the mags these days cater to where the obvious money is and that is the later generation Vettes...and that make good business sense. It also seems that if there is anything about the earlier generations, it is in a patronizing way and the author generally has no clue about the earlier generation Vettes.

I let my subscription lapse a couple of years ago. Seemed the same things kept getting re-hashed with nothing much new added. That and an expensive subscription price just turned me off.

Paul, with all you know about C3's you could write the articles for CF. At least if this was the case the mag would contain more reliable information!

I get CF & Corvette magazine - I just look at the pictures anyway! But I also get my favourites they are Hot Rod mag & Chevy High Performance! And then I also get Hemmings & hemmings muscle car mags,Corvette & Chevy Trader and a New one called Street Thunder who believe it or not sent me a threatening letter if I didnt pay up!!!!! DONT get that one! I initially signed up for it just to see how good it was - got my first mag, they sent me a free wash mitten (which I had not asked for)...didnt like it so didnt pay...result...They sent continuous letters asking for there money & had the hide to say they want there money especially because they had sent me the cleaning mitten on good faith (Which I never asked for!) They kept sending the Mags, even though I never paid them....WHY? In hind sight I probably should have called them to cancel but magazines make it hard to contact them so that you cant cancel! Its hard to find contact details. Then I got a threatening letter from a Money retreval company. I paid up because I didnt want a bad Credit Rating! I wont be renewing that one!

I agree,
The emphasis seems to be on the later model Vettes.
What happened to articles about REAL Corvettes. Slowly but surely I have been loosing interest in Corvette Fever. Most of us on the Forum who have had Vettes since we were young could most likely give them Tech advice.
As for VETTE Magazine, They have not sent my renewed subscription for 2 years. I paid for a 3 year renewal. WTF! They take your money and run. Can't contact anyone at the publishers. I'l just go to the bookstore, browse the mag, if it has any good articles I'll buy it. If not, back on the rack it goes.
Rick.

I've got no use for those mags, any of them. Not unless I need to buy something then they're good as advertisements. Mostly what they all are. They do articles only on the items that the big advertisers have.

If they don't sell it you don't see it.

I emailed them on that one.

Paul; some say that Corvette Fever mag started going downhill when Andy Bolig left.

You know that Bolig now writes for Corvette Enthusiast ...

I will not renew my subscription. I own a 1980 sb/4sp and there has not been much about the C3's in the magazine for sometime.

I've been kicking around the idea of starting a C3 only newsletter with the hope it would become popular enough to justify a magazine someday. We have got a lot of talented people here (Lars, the Pauls, LT1 etc.) who would make great tech guys. Lord knows there's enough beautiful cars here to have a never ending supply of feature stories.

Here's what I was thinking would look good by section

1. Performance mods & tuning tuning
2. Classifieds
3. Features on three model years per issue (i.e. early C3, middle C3 & late C3)
4. System rebuild (stock)
5. System rebuild (performance upgrade)
6. Factory correct restoration
7. Tips, tricks & tools
8. Subscriber submitted stories
9. Humor/comics
10. Interiors
11. Suspension
12. Drivetrain
13. Top notch vendors

Let me know what you think. Should anything be added? What do you think the interest would be? Is anyone interested in being part of something llike this?

Anyway, it's just a thought and a possible remedy to the weak C3 coverage in the usual Corvette magazines. I even thought it would be neat to team up with the Forum itself and do this as a companion to it.

Unfortunately both Corvette Fever and Vette are owned by Primedia. A past editor of one of those mags refers to them as Primediocre. I will not be renewing my subs when they come due. It would also be nice to recieve the mags on time and regularly. Received January CF after September.
No more.....

I believe they also listed the cross-fire as coming out in 84, complete snub of the 82 since the powertrain folks got done a year before the body folks caught up.

I agree that when I read the list I was puzzled by the L-82 thing as well and wondered why they didn't pick the first year for the engine. If they were going for top HP, they should have chosen 1979.
