Chevy dealer parts counter, what a joke
I just put in my new power steering control valve and cylinder. My hoses were only 5 months old so I reused them. The one hose coming off the bottom of the cylinder back to the control valve leaks no matter how I tighten it. No one local carries it so I decided to call Bob Stall Chvrolet. Quoted $110.00 per hose!!!!
Here it is for $18.00

God I'm glad I'm not a C5/6 driver who has no choice but to be butt raped by Chevy.

Unfreakin' believable. I guess they think that because you have a vette, you have a bucket full of money to spend.

True story. I once tried to purchase a a/c. compressor for my 69. The Chevy. dealer quoted me a price of $720.00. I then went 1/2 a block down the road to the local auto parts store and bought the same compressor for less than $100.00.

Chevy parts
Rounded off a brake caliper bolt on my daughters car ( very thin head design ) Local chev dealer looked it up... $20.70 each. Picked through my buddys bolt assortment and located a replacement. Now that they are giving cars away with the "employee discount program " ( ha, ha, ha ) I bet the parts took a little hike in price. AND they wonder why one does not come back for genuine replacement parts.........

Sometimes the chevy dealer surprises me. Broke the side mirror on the Suburban, $320 for replacement at local dealer. My stepdad found a replacement from a chevy dealer in Wisconsin or something for <$100 shipped to us.
There's a plastic/nylon retainer in the tilt/tele column and just to see if they could find it, I read them the part number. Turns out they had it in stock, and for cheaper than Ecklers, Mad, or Zip.

The problem with buying from a dealer is most of the time the parts guys hike up the price of the product to increase their profit margin. Call the same dealership and ask a few different people the price for the same product. Most of the time you will get different prices.

I went to a local chevy dealer, and was thinking of buying a used 2003 duramax loaded, but could not figure out how this particular truck had as much dirt and rust as my 69 corvette on the frame, or at least it seemed that way. Odomiter showed 17000 miles, or 29000 kms. There where all kinds of small pitting on the front grill as though it had seen nothing but gravel roads throught its short life. Doesn't make sence. I think the odometer was rolled back! They are crooks!

I have had no problems with the Chevy dealer here in town. I guess it has to do with knowing the guy who runs the parts and service counter. They always have the part and if they cant beat somebodys price and they know about it, they usually tell me that "insert name here" has it cheaper. Does everyone get this knowledge, probably not, but I usually go to them first on alot of things.

Last one I did was in Steve's driveway. Know the guy in Spring Valley? I pulled into his driveway saw him working on a car, and stopped. An hour later he says 'HEY! Your car is leaking all overmy driveway!'
Yea it was a mess. And those hoses were just a year old. Glad he had new ones in stock.
