I recently converted a 1970 mechanical tach to electronic use.
In my repair notes is says "1970 LS5". I don't know what the LS5 option was though. Here is a picture of it just before reassembly:

The sending unit is toward the rear of the car on the passenger side about even with the passenger side rear bumperette if that helps you any. I know when I had to order my reproduction tank it did take a different tank for the 4:35 than it did for the 390
